CORE is the Coordination of Robotics Education Program. CORE is an education and outreach program of the University of Houston, College of Technology.

CORE administers and/or assists with many youth robotics programs including FIRST LEGO League, Junior FIRST LEGO League, and EARLY Robotics.  We are also glad to answer questions or make referrals for FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC), VEX, Botball, BEST Robotics, ECOBOT, and the TCEA Robotics Challenge.

FLL Houston 2015-2016 Season

  • Houston FLL Kick Off Event at St. Agnes Academy – Sat. Sept. 12, 9000 Bellaire Boulevard, Houston, Tx, 9-12 Research Project and Robot Game Challenge Review, 12-3 Coaching Workshop.  Event dates,  costs, registration information and required forms will be released at Kick Off.  Event limited to adults, coaches, mentors and parents.  No children or youth team members.  Free event.  Bring your own snacks and lunch.  Coffee provided. No prior registration needed.
  • Houston FLL Training Day – Sept. 26 9-12 a.m.  Three workshops – (1) FLL Robot Game Strategies for Coaches, (2) Tips and Tricks for Coaches and (3) Basic Programming for Youth.  Workshop 3 is limited to 2 members of registered FLL Team, and class is recommended for those new to programming.  No advanced techniques will be covered.  Youth attendees at programming workshop will need to bring a laptop with LEGO software loaded, EV3 or NXT robotics kit with basic robot already built.  Programming workshop exclusively for youth attendees.  Registration for Houston FLL Training Day sessions to open Sept. 1 via this website.  The Programming workshop is not open to the general public.  Event is Free but we need a location.  Contact us at core@uh.edu to host this event at your school.
  • Practice Days – To Be Announced.  Contact us if you would like to host a Practice Event in Oct. or Nov.
  • Qualifying Tournaments  – To Be Announced.  Contact us if you would like to host a Qualifying Tournament in Nov. or Dec. 5.  
  • Houston FLL Champions Festival, Saturday Dec. 12, Stafford High School Physical Education Complex, 1625 Staffordshire Road, Stafford, Texas 77477.   This Festival will feature events for those teams receiving a Silver Qualifying Ticket at a Qualifier and events for those teams receiving a Gold Qualifying Ticket at a Qualifier.  This event combines the Bayou City Tournament of Champions (Silver Tournament) and the Lone Star FLL Championship (Gold Tournament).

Early Robotics

Kick Off for Fall 2015 will be held Sept. 26 at St. Agnes Academy, 9000 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX from 12-3.  Free event.  Game reveal and coaching prep meeting.
