Biotech Summer Workshop for High School Students and Teachers
For summer 2014, the Center for Life Sciences Technology is offering biotech training courses to high school teachers and students. Teachers will receive 3 CEUs.
From bioremediation to agriculture, pharmaceuticals and even your laundry detergent, biotechnology is being integrated more and more into our day to day lives.
Participants will get hands – on experience with a variety of tools and instruments used in modern molecular biology and biotechnology research labs. Laboratory experiments include agarose gel electrophoresis, genetic transformation with GFP, polymerase chain reaction, DNA finger printing and DNA microarray. Instructional materials to replicate these experiments will be provided.
